Ian Roberts

Club Professional

Ian has been Huntercombe Golf Club’s long standing Club Professional since 2004. He has seen the introduction of two new practice areas, a short game area, expansion of the golf shop, teaching academy and the many services it provides.

He qualified as a PGA Professional in 1986 and has worked mostly as a coach amongst the busiest courses in Europe as well as traditional members clubs.

With over 35 years of coaching experience, Ian has a wealth of knowledge to help any golfer achieve their ambitions. He likes to see his lessons perfect basic set up fundamentals and doesn’t over complicate the swing.

Ian doesn’t use trackman technology, he uses video analysis when some visual aid is helpful. Ian’s lesson packages are generally split time wise from range work and course. His lessons are encouraged to improve their skills on the range and then take those skills out on the reality of the golf course.

On a daily basis, Ian enjoys sharing his considerable expertise in coaching and retailing. Although busy at Huntercombe Golf Club, Ian also enjoys competing in senior golf tournaments and playing matches with members and visitors alike

Ben O’Dell

LEAD TEACHING PROFESSIONAL

Ben joined Huntercombe following a successful amateur and professional playing career, which included several regional wins and course records. Ben is now focused on leading the Huntercombe Golf Academy.

Ben, who trained under and continues to be coached by the world-renowned coach, Pete Cowen and his team, is aiming to be one of the country’s leading coaches. He is keen to pass on his knowledge and experiences as both a player and a coach.

Ben uses the latest Trackman 4 launch monitor and swing analysis software and as a coach, prides himself on constantly improving his technical knowledge, communication skills and understanding.

Ben is a Certified PGA Member, Trackman Level 2 Professional, Swing Catalyst Instructor, Putting Solutions Certified Coach and works with golfers of all abilities. With an extensive technical knowledge and personable manner, Ben’s coaching is perfect for every golfer who has the desire to reach their full golfing potential or for those who just want to minimise bad shots.
